Juvenile offenses are typically criminal offenses completed by persons under the age of eighteen also known as minors. Minors can be charged with criminal offenses ranging from petty or misdemeanor offenses to felony level offenses. In some cases, individuals who are minors can be charged as adults for certain types of crimes. Typically, at the juvenile level courts are focused on rehabilitation of the minor to prevent them from continuing a path into the criminal justice system. However, Judges at this level are not beyond putting minors in jail for longer periods of time depending upon the charges or their compliance with court orders.
