WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT DURING THE PRE-CHARGE/ INVESTIGATION STAGES OF MY CASE?
Before a case is charged and you are being investigated by law enforcement, it is best to consult with an attorney. While police are allowed to lie or use falsehoods to gain information from individuals or from the public it is actually a crime into and of itself to lie to a law enforcement officer (A.R.S. §13-2907.01). Additionally, often people misunderstand the protections of the Fourth and Fifth Amendments of the United States Constitution and the famous Miranda Rights. It is always best to consult with an attorney or have an attorney present when you are being investigated by law enforcement to help protect you from incriminating statements or the appearance of impropriety when being investigated.
